AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday voiced Jordan’s full support for Iraq's efforts to maintain stability and sovereignty over its territories.
At a meeting with Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Salim Al Jabouri, Vice President Osama Al Nujaifi and Deputy Prime Minister Saleh Al Mutlaq, the King also reaffirmed Jordan's support for the political process that involves all segments of the Iraqi community with the aim of enhancing consensus and building a strong, united Iraq.
Discussions at the meeting also covered developments in Iraq and the Iraqi government's efforts in fighting terrorist groups, a Royal Court statement said.
For their part, the Iraqi officials briefed His Majesty on the current issues facing Iraq, commending the Kingdom's support for their country.
In an interview broadcast last week on Fox News Channel, King Abdullah said Jordan is the only Arab country operating alongside the Iraqis and coalition forces in Iraq against the Daesh terrorist group.
"... As the Iraqis and the coalition increase their tempo for the next phase of operations inside of Iraq, so will Jordan increase its tempo in support of Iraq," the King said in the interview.
