AMMAN — The Jordan Press Foundation (JPF)/Al Rai, The Jordan Times’ Arabic sister publication, celebrates its 50th anniversary on Tuesday. Al Rai was established by a Cabinet decision on May 18, 1971 as a government-owned newspaper.
The first issue hit newsstands on June 2 of the same year. Currently, the state-owned Social Security Investment Fund owns around 55 per cent of the shares of the Jordan Press Foundation, which publishes Al Rai and The Jordan Times.
Coinciding with its 50th anniversary, Al Rai is resuming its print edition, which had been suspended in light of the government's precautionary health measures taken to counter COVID-19.
