AMMAN — The Jordan Exporters Association (JEA), in cooperation and with the support of the Ministry of Investment, on Saturday said that it is organising the Kingdom's participation in the SIAL Canada 2022 – “Inspire Food Business” in its 17th edition, which is scheduled to open on April 20 in Montreal.

The JEA said that 12 major industrial companies specialised in the field of foodstuff and healthy dietary products will represent Jordan in the fair, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

JEA President Ahmad Khudari said that the event represents an opportunity for Jordanian companies to get acquainted with new trading partners around the world and access “promising” markets.

This plan applies to countries, with which Jordan is linked by free trade agreements (FTA), especially Canada, by benefiting from the FTA that came into force in 2012, he noted.

SIAL Canada 2022 is a key international exhibition specialised in the food industries in North America, he said, adding that 750 businesses from 50 countries will showcase their food products and related service industries.

During the two days preceding the start of the fair, the JEA will organise an integrated marketing programme for the participating Jordanian companies on the Canadian market and their trade opportunities, in cooperation with the Trade Facilitation Office (TFO) Canada, according to Khudari.

He noted that the programme will also focus on promoting Jordanian companies and their products to Canadian importers at the TFO's social media platforms, holding separate talks for each company with Canadian importers, and organising visits to learn about the Canadian market.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment Zaher Qatarneh said that the ministry plays a key role in supporting the Jordanian product and ensuring its presence in global markets by supporting external marketing activities and incurring part of the financial costs resulting from industrial companies' foreign participation.

JEA Director General Halim Abu Rahmeh said that the association is organising Jordan's participation in the three-day trade event for the 11th consecutive time, due to its "remarkable" importance in promoting the Kingdom's food industry.
