Jordan to participate in UN Commission on Status of Women meeting

AMMAN — Jordan is set to take part in the 67th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) with a priority theme of “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.
Heading the Jordanian delegation, Social Development Minister Wafa Bani Mustafa, who is also chairperson of the Ministerial Committee for Women’s Empowerment, will attend a roundtable discussion on best practices to bridge the digital gender gap and promote education in the digital age, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Bani Mustafa will deliver a statement on Jordan’s progress in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. The Jordanian delegation will also hold a side event with ESCWA and Palestine.
Alongside the UN meeting, the delegation will attend sideline events of the Arab League, such as the launch of the first regional review of the Arab Women’s Development Agenda 2030 hosted by Qatar, in addition to an event hosted by the UAE that will focus on “Arab Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics” as an opportunity to rethink the model of women’s economic empowerment.
In addition to attending the meetings, Bani Mustafa will meet with the Minister of Social and Family Development of Singapore, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
