Jordan coordinating with donors on priority projects

AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury on Sunday said the government is following up closely with donors to ensure the implementation of the outcomes of London conference held in February of this year on the Syrian crisis. 

Speaking during a meeting with chief editors of daily newspapers and columnists hosted by Prime Minister Hani Mulki, Fakhoury said the government will be ready next month to provide donors with a plan to address the Kingdom’s financing needs in light of pledges made during the conference. 

Fakhoury said in regards to Jordan’s request to simplify Europe’s rules of origin, 85 per cent of the required work has already been accomplished with some details still to be agreed upon with concerned partners. 

Fakhoury said that the government has succeeded in securing cheaper loans to bridge the financial gap in the budget, adding that the government will work on convincing donors to offer funding to priority projects listed by Jordan. 

 

“We have prepared a list of projects and sent it to donors,” the minister said, noting that the government will follow up with donors on who is going to finance each project.
