AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Sunday denounced the continuous break-ins by Israeli settlers at Al Aqsa Mosque and Israeli forces allowing them to violate its sanctity through provocative practices under their protection.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Haitham Abul Foul said that the increasing violations and provocations are a blatant breach of international law and the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites. In this regard, he stressed that these persistent attacks and violations on the holy sites represent a dangerous trend that might result in further escalation, the repercussions of which will affect all.

The spokesperson stressed that the 144-dunum Al Aqsa Mosque is a “pure” Islamic holy site and that the Jordan-run Jerusalem Awqaf and Aqsa Affairs Department is "the sole authority" tasked with supervising all its affairs. Abul Foul called on Israel, the occupying force, to immediately halt its attacks and violations at Al Aqsa Mosque.
