Jordan, China to cooperate in anti-terrorism field

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received China's State Councillor Wang Yong at Al Husseiniya Palace, heading a delegation currently visiting the Kingdom to boost strategic relations and cooperation, according to a Royal Court statement.

During the meeting, His Majesty stressed the importance of boosting bilateral relations and he discussed with the Chinese official ways to enhance cooperation in cultural and tourism fields, in addition to security cooperation to combat terrorism.

They discussed regional and international developments and efforts made to address ensuing challenges in a manner that enhances global security and stability, with King Abdullah stressing China's important role in dealing with these issues. 

For his part, Wang conveyed the greetings of China's President Xi Jinping to His Majesty and voiced his country's  keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation.

He congratulated Jordan on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Independence Day and the Great Arab Revolt centennial.

The councillor also voiced China's readiness to spend more effort in order to boost partnership and cooperation in regards to economy and investment and to encourage Chinese companies to invest in Jordan.

 

The meeting was attended by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, King's Office Director Jafar Hassan, National Policies Council Rapporteur Abdullah Wreikat, the delegates and Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Pan Weifang.
