AMMAN — As a part of the European Union’s (EU) support project for civil society organisations “Blended Learning and Behaviour Change for Local Development”, the Jordan Breast Cancer Programme conducted the “Agents of Change” training sessions.
The training sessions were attended by a number of women activists and volunteers working in the fields of health and women, from civil society and community-based organisations, according to an EU statement.
The workshops aim to increase the community’s awareness and empower women and train them to carry out awareness activities that aspire to generate behavioural change through community engagement in several areas, such as cancer prevention and the need to lead a healthy lifestyle.
“Agents of Change” workshops focus on gender and entrepreneurship issues to emphasise on the importance of educating women about their rights to health awareness and cancer prevention, in addition to the importance of their financial and economic independence.
Interactive family and awareness activities are currently being held in both Balqa and Tafileh governorates, targeting 3,000 community members to help them exercise autonomy that leads to a healthy family and community.
The activities included a number of plays with awareness messages, educational booths, and competitions.
