AMMAN — The agriculture minister, Khalid Hneifat, and his Palestinian counterpart, Rezq Salimia, discussed on Monday ways to enhance cooperation in marketing agricultural products, overcome obstacles and expand marketing plans through the Jordanian-Palestinian Agricultural Products Marketing Company (JPACO).

Hneifat stressed the ministry’s support for the Palestinian counterpart in rehabilitating the Palestinian agricultural sector following the brutal aggression against the Palestinian people, voicing readiness to connect with the Kingdom’s private sector to support the Palestinian side, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Palestinian minister expressed appreciation for Jordan’s supportive stance on legitimate Palestinian rights, which is reflected through the steadfast Royal position and popular, diplomatic, financial and moral support.

Salimia also had a firsthand look at the concept of horizontal grain silos and the opportunities of transferring this experience to his country, which would contribute to increase the wheat storage capacity.

As a result of cooperation between the two countries, JPACO aims to improve export markets for fresh and processed products from both nations by encouraging small and medium-sized farmers to grow exportable crops instead of traditional ones, according to the company website.

The mission of JPACO is to regain and increase the market share of Jordanian and Palestinian agricultural products in global markets by overcoming the difficulties and obstacles faced by exporters in both countries.

It also aims to study, analyse, and penetrate new exporting markets for fresh and processed agricultural products from both countries by capitalising on networks and market linkages, the website added.
