AMMAN — The Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) on Tuesday unveiled the second edition of its international competition, Armython 2024.
The first interactive cyber platform in the MENA region, Armython 2024 is dedicated to armed forces and security agencies, focusing on cybersecurity, encryption and future technologies.
During a press conference, JODDB Director General Brig. Gen. Ayman Batran, also the head of Armython's Higher Steering Committee, said that the competition aims to promote knowledge sharing, forge strategic partnerships and unite efforts, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The JODDB has strengthened its capabilities in the field of smart technology and advanced electronics, particularly through the establishment of a specialised encryption centre and the "Cyber Shield" Academy, as well as a dedicated artificial intelligence laboratory, which operates as an integrated system in line with global best practices, optimising advanced technology and training skilled human resources, he noted.
Head of the competition promotion organising committee and head of sales and business strategy and spokesperson at JODDB, Ratib Abu Ragheb, noted that the second edition of the Armython boasts a remarkable 40 per cent increase over its predecessor.
This expansion is in line with the escalating security challenges and complex cyber threats faced by countries and institutions worldwide, including concerns related to drones, he added.
The Armython provides a platform for more than 17 specialised teams from the armed forces and security agencies of 13 different countries, who will compete in more than 150 challenges covering various areas of cybersecurity, encryption, unmanned aircraft and related fields.
The competition has been designed by Jordanian experts from the JODDB, university students and award-winning partners from the public and private sectors
The second edition of Armython 2024 will be held under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Hussein between 30 June and 2 July 2024.
