JMD reports highest rainfall in northern regions

AMMAN — Director General of the Meteorological Department (JMD) Raed Khattab said on Sunday that the recent depression witnessed by the Kingdom since the first Friday in marbaniyeh, the 40 coldest days of winter, concentrated its rainfall predominantly on the northern regions.
He added that the weather monitoring station in Ras Munif recorded the highest rainfall in the past 48 hours in the northern regions, reaching 100.1 mm, accounting for 17 per cent of its overall seasonal average, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Khattab also said that Amman recorded the highest rainfall in the central regions, totaling 55.5 mm, representing 11 per cent of its overall seasonal average. Khattab added that the majority of the southern and eastern regions of the kingdom did not experience any rainfall until Sunday morning.
