JEF, World Bank officials review Economic Modernisation Vision

AMMAN — The Jordan Economic Forum (JEF) has discussed with officials from the World Bank (WB) Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision, economic challenges, improving the investment climate, enhancing women’s economic participation and combating unemployment.
A JEF statement on Wednesday said that the forum's members emphasised the importance of allocating a budget to boost the Kingdom's investment and tourism sectors, and notably to highlight the incentives offered to investors.
They also reviewed the Economic Modernisation Vision, a roadmap for the next 10 years meant to enhance economic growth and generate thousands of jobs annually.
World Bank officials emphasised the necessity of utilising technology and capacity building to enhance economic productivity.
They also drew attention to the importance of expanding women's economic participation and empowerment to further economic growth.
The session, part of the activities of the forum's economic salon, saw the participation of WB Dean of the Board of Executive Directors Merza Hasan, WB Country Director for the Middle East Department Jean-Christophe Carret, WB Resident Representative Holly Welborn Benner and Adviser to the Executive Director of the WBG Fawaz Bilbeisi.
