AMMAN — The Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) and Export Bahrain on Monday signed an agreement to exchange expertise in terms of private sector support, product exhibition and trade.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Higher Committee meeting of the Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development, which was held in Amman on Sunday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali, and Bahraini Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdulla Adel Fakhro.
Shamali stressed the importance of the higher committee meeting, which resulted in over $2 billion in investment agreements involving food security, medicine and electric vehicles.
The higher committee, which comprises Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE, has established comprehensive Arab cooperation and has achieved integration in several sectors, Shamali said. The “door is open” for other countries to join the higher committee, he added.
The agreement is intended to boost economic cooperation by increasing two-way trade, he said.
For his part, Fakhro said that action must be taken to increase economic cooperation and build upon the achievements of the quadripartite partnership.
CEO of JEDCO Abdel Fattah Kayed said that the agreement should “lay the foundation” for extensive cooperation between the two entities, benefitting the private sector and strengthening relationships between small- and medium-sized businesses.
