AMMAN — The Jordan Customs Department’s (JCD) attorney general has issued a decision to close a number of shops that have repeatedly sold smuggled cigarettes, as part of the JCD’s role of protecting the national economy, a JCD official said on Wednesday.
In a JCD statement, the official said that the decision is part of a series of measures taken by the department to combat all forms of smuggling, in accordance with the latest amendments to the Customs Law, which gave the JCD jurisdiction to impose harsher penalties on smuggled cigarettes.
