AMMAN — The Japanese embassy in Amman has affirmed its ongoing partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Jordan to support women’s reproductive health  and rights in Azraq refugee camp amid the coronavirus pandemic and throughout the year.

The UNFPA’s project in Azraq camp, a $300,000 programme funded by the Japanese government, is “particularly relevant with the recent agreement with the Government of Japan to continue funding UNFPA’s sexual and reproductive health clinic in Village 6,” a statement issued by the UNFPA said on Wednesday.

The UNFPA has been supporting three reproductive health clinics in Azraq camp since 2014, and around 8,000 women and girls of childbearing age depend upon the clinics to access services.
