AMMAN — The third Jameed and Ghee Festival was held in Amman on Friday to enable representatives of charitable societies in the badia region to promote their products and widen their customer base.

Around 30 societies took part in the fair, which was organised by the Hashemite Fund for Development of Jordan Badia (HFDJB).

Participants interviewed by The Jordan Times explained that that the production and marketing of jameed has evolved over the years.

Sharifa Zein Alsharaf Bint Nasser, the HFDJB’s chairperson of the board of trustees, said that there has been progress in the production process.

“Instead of having a big piece [of jameed] it’s smaller now, which made it easier for women. They added some herbs to it as well,” she told The Jordan Times.

Nasser noted that this is the third time the festival has been organised, which gave the societies the chance to network with a great number of consumers in Amman, while getting the word out that there are societies that produce jameed in a clean and safe way in the badia at reasonable prices.

Um Talal, the president of the Hashmiah Women society in Maan, said the festival gave the society’s members a chance to meet other members and share ideas.

Mohammad Al Amoush, of HFDJB, said the aim of the festival was to support underprivileged families.

“There is ongoing development in terms of production and adherence to health regulations that are imperative to societies that produce jameed,” he added.

Amoush noted that the main idea behind the festival was to bring the societies from the badia to Amman, which is the commercial centre of the Kingdom.
