AMMAN — The Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) on Monday celebrated the handover of the Borders Control Department's new administrative building for female personnel.
The Japanese government-funded project was implemented by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
JAF Assistant for Planning, Organisation and Defence Resources Brig. Gen. Yousef Al Khatib, Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Shimazaki Kaoru and IOM Chief of Mission in Jordan Tajma Kurt attended the event.
Border Control Department Director Brig. Gen. Ahmed Khleifat expressed thanks to the Japanese government for supporting Jordan's humanitarian efforts in the field of border security.
The completion of the border humanitarian management project shows Japan's continuous support for creating a better working environment for female officers and to raise the level of readiness to respond to any future humanitarian crises, he said.
The diplomat expressed his government's keenness on working with the IOM and the Borders Control Department, a key component of regional stability.
The project is part of the ongoing cooperation between the IOM, the JAF and the government of Japan to enhance the response to cross-border infectious diseases through providing educational sessions, according to the head of the IOM mission.
