IRBID — Residents of Deir Al Saaneh town in Irbid’s Taibeh District on Friday organised a protest against festive firings, after Bailasan Sanjalawi, 2, was shot by a stray bullet in Irbid. Sanjalawi has been receiving treatment at the King Hussein Medical Centre for nine days, after she was injured during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, and she is still in a coma.
District Governor Thabit Shraideh called for avoiding festive firings and activating laws that combat the phenomenon. Participants handed Shraideh a popular pledge stressing their commitment not to practise festive firings and not to attend occasions where such acts are practised.
