Int@j, PITA launch initiatives to rebuild technological infrastructure in Gaza

AMMAN — The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Int@j) participated in a remote panel discussion organised by the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Union (AICTU) and the Palestinian Information Technology Association of Companies (PITA).

During the panel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PITA Tamer Baransi and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Int@j Eid Sweis discussed the mechanisms used to support the "Gaza Rapid Recovery Fund”, aimed to highlight the efforts strengthening the Palestinian technology sector in order to face the challenges posed by the current situation, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The fund is organising a wide-ranging fundraising campaign, inviting companies and individuals to contribute to their goals of immediately intervening the moment  "Zionist" aggression halts to provide a building supplied with electricity, internet and essential equipment to enable entrepreneurs, start-ups and affected companies to resume their operations, communicate with their customers, and facilitate the recovery process. 

Baransi announced the launch of these initiatives to rebuild the technological infrastructure in Gaza, stating that PITA has provided $20,000 in support to its members in Gaza as a first step to help them through this crisis.

Sweis stressed the importance of establishing the mechanisms used to aid the fund in order to support over 130 companies operating in the communications and information technology sector in Gaza, according to Petra.
