Interior ministry, UNDP and UJ join hands for academic initiative

AMMAN — The Ministry of Interior, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the University of Jordan (UJ) on Thursday signed two cooperation agreements to launch a master’s degree and a higher diploma in management and local development at the UJ.
The agreements were signed by Minister of Interior Salameh Hammad, UNDP Programme Director Majida Assaf and the UJ’s Vice President for Humanitarian College Affairs Ahmad Majdouba, while Minister of Local Administration Walid Masri attended the ceremony.
Hammad said that this academic initiative, funded by the EU within the programme of supporting decentralisation and local development, will provide 40 full scholarships to the ministries of interior and local administration, as well as other concerned ministries and civil society organisations working in the field of local development, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
