Interior minister urges speedy issuance of smart IDs

AMMAN — Interior Minister Ghaleb Zu’bi on Tuesday visited the Civil Status and Passports Department (CSPD) to follow up on the department’s performance, with a focus on the issuance of smart ID cards, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During a meeting with CSPD Director General Fawaz Alshahwan, Zu’bi highlighted the government’s keenness to provide all forms of support to help citizens obtain smart IDs as quickly as possible.
Zu’bi said the government will allocate some ministries, public and private institutions with additional employees with the necessary devices to print and issue the smart ID cards. For his part, Alshahwan said the number of smart IDs issued during the past three days reached around 51,000.
