Industry minister briefs Cabinet on food reserves

AMMAN — The government on Wednesday emphasised the necessity of maintaining measures related to keeping strategic food reserves at levels deemed safe and sufficient.
During a Cabinet session, Minister of Industry Trade and Supply Yousef Shamali briefed the government on the availability of basic foods stuff, highlighting the rates of consumption and local production.
Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, during the session, highlighted the importance of meeting the requirements of food security amid the global changes, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The council of ministers also approved the mandating reasons for a draft bylaw of the mechanisms of the implementation of the alternatives to freedom-depriving penalties for 2022, referring it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau and granting it an “urgency status”.
The Cabinet also decided to appoint Mohammed Al Yahya as secretary general of the Jordanian National Centre for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Control.
