AMMAN — Revenue from income and sales tax in 2022 totalled JD 5.76 billion, compared with JD 5.21 billion collected in 2021, marking an increase of 11 per cent, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Tuesday.
The tax reform package and “efficient” tax collection have contributed to an increase in tax revenues in 2022, despite the government's decision not to impose any tax hikes last year. As for the number of taxpayers, which includes individuals, employees and companies, it reached 681,523 by the end of last year. Of this figure, 236,632 taxpayers fell under the "Employee Tax and Deductions" category. The industrial sector had a total of 245, 000 taxpayers. The government projected in this year’s general budget that around JD6.633 billion in tax revenue will be collected.
