AMMAN — Following the International Monetary Fund Executive Board’s decision on Wednesday approving an approximately $1.3 billion Extended Fund Facility programme for Jordan, the IMF on Thursday announced that an amount equivalent to SDR (special drawing rights) 102.93 million (about $139.23 million) is available for immediate disbursement.
The remaining amount will be dispensed over the course of the fund-supported programme, subject to eight programme reviews, the IMF said on its website.
A Finance Ministry statement on Wednesday said that the board’s decision, amid global uncertainty in light of the coronavirus pandemic, signals the fund’s “confidence” in Jordan’s economic reform process and support for its efforts to mitigate the impacts of the virus on vulnerable economic sectors and individuals.
