AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah’s efforts in defending Jerusalem and the Palestinian issue are supported by a “historical and legitimate” legacy that His Majesty inherited from Sharif Hussein Bin Ali, who first held the responsibility of the Hashemite Custodianship over the holy sites in Jerusalem, Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh said on Thursday.
Receiving Secretary General of the National Congress Party Rheil Gharaibeh, Tarawneh said that Jordanians will never accept any attempt to tamper with the Hashemite Custodianship over sacred places, nor will they accept changing the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Gharaibeh expressed his party’s appreciation for the House’s stance on the Palestinian issue and supporting Jerusalem, noting that it shows awareness and realisation by the Chamber of the threats in the current phase.
