AMMAN — Lower House Palestine Committee President Fayez Basbous and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan Aziz Dihani met on Thursday at the Kuwaiti embassy to discuss the committee’s efforts to realise justice for the Palestinian people, based on His Majesty King Abdullah's position on the centrality of the Palestinian issue.
During the meeting, Basbous stressed the "deep-rooted" nature of relations between Jordan and Kuwait, and the importance of sustaining coordination and consultation to restore the legitimate rights of Palestinians, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also reiterated that the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem is a "safety valve" for the Arab identity of the holy city.
For his part, Dihani, during the embassy-hosted meeting, said that Kuwait has a “clear, unaltered and solid position” along with Jordan regarding the Hashemite Custodianship, noting that the two countries see eye-to-eye on various Arab issues.
