AMMAN — Head of the Lower House’s Economy and Investment Committee MP Khaled Abu Hassan on Tuesday called for increasing Iraqi investments in Jordan and engaging the Kingdom in the reconstruction of Iraq.

During a committee meeting with Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Haidar Al Athari, Abu Hassan said that panel members are open to listen to the embassy’s notes and proposals to overcome challenges facing Iraqi investors in Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The lawmaker noted that electricity connection, installing the oil pipeline between Basra and Aqaba and establishing an economic zone on the borders between the countries will reflect positively on their economies.

Athari stressed that the visits by Jordanian government and parliamentary delegations to Iraq highlight political openness that overcame terrorism challenges, noting that the embassy had formed a committee to discuss challenges facing Iraqi investors.
