AMMAN — Minister of Agriculture Khalid Hneifat on Wednesday affirmed that the issue of food security receives Royal attention, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Hneifat’s comments came during a lecture presented by the minister at the Royal Jordanian National Defence College, during which he highlighted that climate change, limited water resources, increased demand for food and water, high rates of poverty and unemployment, high population growth rates, dependency ratios and an increase in the number of refugees, are all considered challenges to food security in Jordan.
In regard to the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture 2022-2025, Hneifat said that the plan aims to improve the living conditions of farmers, increase agricultural productivity, improve the efficiency of irrigation and promote the use of modern agricultural technology to increase production and employment in the agricultural sector. He also added that it aims to bolster partnerships with the private sector to increase the volume of agricultural investment and create job opportunities.
