Hijaz Railway Corporation hosts Turkish officials

AMMAN — Director General of the Jordan Hijaz Railway Corporation Salah Luzi on Tuesday received Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Ismail Çakakli, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Çakakli’s visit to the Kingdom aimed at discussing joint cooperation with the Hijaz Railway Corporation and inspecting the museum implemented by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). Çakakli was accompanied by the head of the Turkish ministry of interior’s disaster and emergency management authority, Mehmet Güllüoglu, and TIKA’s coordinator in Jordan, Kurshad Mahamat.
Luzi stressed Jordan’s deep-rooted bilateral relations with Turkey, which reflect the two countries’ historical friendship and ongoing cooperation, as well as their unity of vision towards regional issues.
He pointed out the importance of partnerships with Turkey, and the mutual aspects of the formation of the Hijaz Railway.
Çakakli expressed his appreciation for the Hijaz Railway Corporation’s role in maintaining the railway and preserving its identity, stressing the continuation of cooperation and coordination between the two sides to boost progress at all levels.
The delegation also attended a meeting held by Luzi about upcoming projects that document the achievements of the Hijaz Railway Corporation in terms of development and modernisation. The meeting also covered upgrading and rehabilitating the corporation’s locomotives and facilities.
The delegation toured the corporation’s museum and reviewed its most prominent possessions and locomotives which were rehabilitated and built by the corporation’s personnel. They also reviewed the latest developments and updates in the construction of the corporation’s new museum.
