Hiasat calls for expanding ICU at Prince Hamzah Hospital’s cardiology department

AMMAN — Health Minister Ali Hiasat on Saturday issued directives to expand the intensive care unit (ICU) at Prince Hamzah Hospital’s cardiology department, and to appoint medical cadres to the recently inaugurated daily cases unit at the cardiac catheterisation department to start receiving patients.
At a meeting with hospital director Mazen Noghway and heads of departments, Hiasat praised the level of medical services at the facility, stressing the importance of training and rehabilitating resident doctors.
Naghway presented a briefing on the cardiology department, noting that its cadres performed 6,720 catheterisation procedures in 2014 compared with 5,266 in 2013, and 206 open-heart surgeries in 2014 compared to 135 in 2013.
