AMMAN — The Ministry of Health has received a shipment of medical equipment intended for health clinics in Ajloun, Tafileh, and Mafraq, sent by the Care project, a 22-million euro EU-funded initiative by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

Director of the ministry’s Primary Health Care Department, Riad Shayyab, said that the new medical equipment would improve primary health services by allowing patients to receive faster and higher-quality treatment, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Jordan, Patrick Lambrechts, emphasised the project’s positive impact on citizens’ well-being, noting that the project’s provision of new medical equipment to the ministry confirms the EU’s commitment to improving the quality of public health services and making healthcare accessible to all.

Santiago Moran, director of the AECID office, emphasised the importance of supplying primary healthcare services in Jordan with the necessary medical equipment, explaining that the initiative is a collaboration among governments with the goal of boosting Jordan’s health sector capacities with EU funding and the cooperation of the government of Spain.

The three-year “Care” project, funded by the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian crisis, aims to upgrade primary healthcare services, provide equipment, devices and systems and build the capacity of healthcare workers.

The project was also launched to combat and manage non-communicable diseases through primary healthcare services in the Mafraq, Ajloun and Tafileh governorates, Petra added.
