AMMAN — The Ministry of Health on Monday announced that it was ready, with a plan to ensure smooth delivery of medical services during Eid Al Adha holiday.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Hatem Azrui, said the plan has been drafted at two levels: the headquarters and the field, focusing on arranging work shifts for public health employees during the holiday, which starts on Thursday through Monday evening next week.
The official told the Jordan news agency, Petra, that ministry cadres at the Crisis Room will be working from 8am till 5pm, while its manager, Mahmoud Al Kayed, will be receiving emergency phone calls 24 hours at the hotline: 0797485846.
The plan, he added, is mainly built on a high level of preparedness of all ERs at public hospitals, which will be ready with sufficient manpower, medicines and other necessary materials.
Meanwhile, the ministry will continue providing primary health services during the eid at designated health centres, which will be selected by the concerned health directors in governorates. Azrui said that these centres will be subject to inspection to ensure that they are compliant with the instruction.
The ministry’s spokesperson added that the eid holiday is a critical time as “markets witness a lot of activity and consumption of foodstuff, which requires alertness… to prevent consequent health risks”.
Urging citizens to be cautious when consuming foods sold on the market, Azrui said the health ministry would not be lenient regarding any violations to health regulations, warning, at the same time children’s playing with firecrackers.
He advised the public against excessive eating, buying food from street vendors and consuming expired food products.
