Health minister visits Mafraq, says situation ‘under control’

AMMAN — A total of 140 people have been in direct contact with the truck driver who tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday and resides in Al Khanaseri town in Mafraq governorate, Minister of Health Saad Jaber said on Friday during a visit to the governorate.
Jaber confirmed that the situation in Al Khanaseri area is “under control” with the help of the security apparatuses, while tightening the procedures in Mafraq depends on the epidemiological situation in the coming days, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
What happened in Mafraq was “a major setback and a sudden shock, but it did not take the Kingdom back to square one", the minister said.
He called on people to avoid gathering and holding Iftar banquets to prevent the spread of the virus.
Mafraq Governor Yasir Edwan confirmed that Al Basilyah municipality, which includes Al Khanaseri, has been isolated to facilitate the work of inspection teams.
