HCD, Social Development Ministry sign MoU on plans, programmes for disabled

AMMAN — The Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) and the Social Development Ministry on Sunday Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure the implementation of the provisions of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The joint effort also aims at enhancing the policies, plans and programmes for people with disabilities, the Jordan News agency, Petra, reported.
The memorandum sets joint mechanisms to develop a comprehensive national strategy which includes finding alternatives to the residential care institutions and fostering the persons with disabilities’ right to independent living.
HRH Prince Mired, HCD president stressed the council’s commitment to provide the necessary technical support for the Social Development Ministry including the coordination with international organisations to attract funds, the recruitment of international experienced cadres in addition to the training of national ones so as to proceed with the 10-year-plan that offers alternative services to the residential care systems.
