AMMAN — Health Minister Feras Al Hawari on Saturday checked on the health condition of nine children who were admitted to Jerash Public Hospital for suspected poisoning.
During a meeting with stakeholders, Hawari directed them to provide patients with full services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The minister noted that Shigella bacteria might be responsible for the new admissions to the hospital, especially given that these new cases were admitted three days after similar cases. This may indicate the bacteria’s transfer between people living in the same area, the minister added.
Jerash Hospital Director Sadeq Otoum said that 11 people with suspected poisoning visited the facility on Friday and Saturday, nine of whom were admitted to the hospital and all are in stable condition.
