Hawari talks epidemic response at 69th regional WHO session

AMMAN — Health Minister Feras Al Hawari on Monday participated in the 69th session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, hosted this year in Cairo.
Hawari held several meetings with counterparts and representatives from health institutions, focusing on key issues to be discussed during the committee session, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Preparatory meetings addressed several issues on the WHO agenda, namely the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccinations, preventive health measures and policies for improving health sector capabilities and the capacities of medical personnel.
On the sidelines of the session, Hawari met with WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Ahmed Al Mandhari, discussing ways to advance cooperation in healthcare and epidemics control. Hawari also emphasised the importance of the session for sharing and reviewing current strategies for epidemic responses.
