AMMAN — The family of slain writer Nahed Hattar has received his remains after “the government pledged to hold accountable those who stoke sedition”, Al Rai Arabic daily reported.
The family had been refusing to receive Hattar’s remains until those who had been promoting hate speech are held accountable. Hattar will be laid to rest at 2pm on Wednesday in his hometown of Fuheis, 20km northwest of Amman, according to Al Rai.
The journalist, facing trial for sharing a caricature that was considered insulting to religious beliefs, was on his way to attend a court hearing when he was shot to death on Sunday.
