AMMAN — This year’s harvest will produce 180,000 tonnes of olives, 26,000 tonnes of olive oil and 36,000 tonnes of olives for pickling, according to preliminary indicators, Agriculture Ministry Spokesperson Nimer Haddadin said on Tuesday.
He noted that the figures were 10 per cent lower than last year’s production, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Technical committees finished inspecting the environmental, health and vocational safety standards of olive presses one month ago, Haddadin said, adding that the presses will open as of next Monday.
