Gulf demand for Jordanian vegetables rises — ministry

AMMAN — A Ministry of Agriculture report issued on Thursday showed an increase in demand on Jordanian vegetables in Gulf markets, according to Ministry Spokesperson Nimer Haddadin.

He also said that Jordan exported 1,614 tonnes of vegetables to the Gulf on Wednesday, 65 per cent of which were tomatoes, while on Thursday exports stood at 1,800 tonnes, 1,100 of which were tomatoes.

Haddadin added that Jordan on Wednesday exported to Iraq 285 tonnes of tomatoes and 40 tonnes of aubergines, compared to 135 tonnes of tomatoes, 75 tonnes of aubergines, 5 tonnes of melon and 3 tonnes of cucumbers on Thursday.
