AMMAN — The government is committed to an “open dialogue” with all sides as part of its communication approach that is based on everyone’s rights to access to information, Minister of State for Media Affairs Jumana Ghunaimat said on Wednesday.
Speaking during a meeting with Awn Cultural Association, Ghunaimat, who is also the government spokesperson, highlighted the important role of cultural centres in enhancing the concept of national education, especially among the youth, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The minister called on all the concerned institutions to join in efforts to create projects that would enhance national identity encompassing historical, cultural, political and educational aspects.
She also reviewed some projects and steps that the government has implemented to build a national media educational system for fact-checking and curbing the spread of rumours.
In this regard, Ghunaimat cited the “Haggak Tiraf” (in Arabic “You have the right to know”) platform that the government has launched to tackle rumours.
Asad Azzam, the head of Awn Cultural Association that mainly focuses on collecting, saving and documenting the history of Jordan, said that his association seeks to highlight the history of the Kingdom in cooperation with all public and private institutions.
Azzam mentioned a cultural project that the association is currently implementing on the role of the Jordanian people in Arab issues, especially the Palestinian cause, noting that the scheme includes three phases with each of them covering 50 years.
