AMMAN — Minister of Government Communications and Government’s Spokesperson Faisal Shboul on Sunday announced that the ministry will continue its series of trainings within its three-year capacity-building programme targeting government communications personnel, which was launched earlier this year.
In a statement, the minister said that the programme, which is overseen by the ministry, sponsored by the US embassy in Jordan and implemented by Magenta International Consulting, aims at training 81 media spokespersons, 54 workers in public communications roles and media units in ministries and governmental institutions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Two training workshops will be offered by late June. The first workshop will be a two-day programme with a focus on training 26 government communications team members in strategic crisis management communication, and the second will provide training for 18 media spokespersons, the minister said.
Three workshops are to be conducted mid-August, which include a practical training for seven spokespersons, a theoretical training on media interview skills for a new group of eight media spokespersons and a third training on handling fake news for a group of 26 government communications personnel.
Shboul stressed that enabling media spokespersons falls within the ministry’s priorities in its work to support the public sector modernisation project.
The programmes aim to improve the skills of media spokespersons and employees in media and government administration, and help advance their experience to support information delivery, unifying official news and dealing with negative interactions on social media platforms.
