AMMAN — The government has decided to allocate JD30 million in support of the beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund (NAF) and the poor student aid fund, in response to the continued rise in fuel prices seen worldwide, Government Spokesperson and Minister of State for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul announced on Wednesday.
The NAF offers assistance to 220,000 families and 74,000 students, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The financial assistance will be added to the beneficiaries' monthly payments for the next six months.
The decision also includes offering assistance for large and medium-sized public buses and white-painted "service taxis”. Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh had directed Finance Minister Mohamad Al-Issis to conduct necessary budget transfers to cover the expenses of the fund’s allocated support.
