Gov’t keeps petrol prices unchanged

By JT - Jun 30,2015 - Last updated at Jun 30,2015

AMMAN — The government on Tuesday announced fuel prices for July, with no changes to the prices of 90- and 95-octane gasoline.

Under the new list, announced by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Maha Ali, the prices of one litre of unleaded 90-octane and 95-octane gasoline will remain the same at JD0.655 and JD0.840 respectively.

The 12.5-kilogramme cooking gas cylinder will be sold at JD7.75, down from JD8 in June, according to a statement from the ministry.

The price per litre of diesel and kerosene went down from JD0.495 in June to JD0.485 in July, the statement said.

Since the government lifted fuel subsidies in November 2012, a committee meets monthly to adjust prices in a manner that corresponds to international market prices of oil.

Prices of oil derivatives in the local market are calculated based on international prices of oil, with the addition of other costs such as shipment, handling and taxes on gasoline.
