GDP grew by 1.3 per cent in Q1 2020 — DoS

AMMAN — The Kingdom’s GDP grew by 1.3 per cent at fixed market prices in the first quarter of 2020, compared with the same period of 2019, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced on Thursday.
The social and personal services sector recorded the highest growth rate at 2.8 per cent, followed by the financial, insurance and real estate sectors at 2.4 per cent, the agriculture sector at 2.3 per cent and the government services-producing sector at 2 per cent, according to the DoS website.
As for sector contributions, the financial, insurance and real estate sectors accounted for 0.46 per cent of the increase and the share of the government services-producing sector contributed 0.29 per cent to the rise, according to the DoS.
