AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry, through the operations directorate and the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo, is closely monitoring the situation of a Jordanian citizen who was wounded in a rocket attack on the Gaza Strip, Director of Operations and Consular Affairs Directorate Sufian Qudah said on Thursday.
He confirmed that the ministry, through its embassy team in Cairo, stationed 24 hours a day on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, is coordinating the evacuation of the injured Jordanian citizen. The citizen is currently receiving critical care in the Indonesian Hospital and is to be transferred from Gaza to Egypt via the Rafah crossing and then swiftly transferred to the Kingdom for medical treatment, according to a ministry statement.
Qudah said that there are 600 Jordanians registered with the ministry who are currently in Gaza, 209 of them have been evacuated to Cairo via the Rafah border crossing, and 53 have been transported to Jordan by a Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft dispatched to Egypt's Al Arish Airport. This plane also carried humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, he said.
The spokesperson also called on Jordanians in Gaza to contact the operations centre at the ministry to request assistance 24/7 at 00962799562903, 00962799562471 and 00962799562193 or via email at op.ctr@fm.gov.jo.
