Foreign Ministry condemns Israeli attacks on UNRWA shelter

AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Thursday condemned the Israeli occupation forces targeting of UNRWA shelter in Gaza's Khan Yunis, where displaced people are seeking refuge from deliberate attacks on their homes.
Ministry's Spokesperson Sufian Qudah emphasised the need for a "resolute" international stance to end the escalating war in Gaza and prevent an unprecedented human catastrophe in light of the ongoing Israeli violations of international and humanitarian law highlight the urgent need for, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Qudah reiterated the Kingdom's firm condemnation of attacks on shelters, which "contradicts human values, ethics and international law, notably the 1949 Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War."
He also stressed the need to protect civilians, hospitals, and vital Palestinian facilities, and enable humanitarian organisations to fulfil their duties without obstacles, renewed the Kingdom's call on the international community, organisations, and the Security Council to intervene and halt Israel's war on the Gaza Strip.
