AMMAN — Amid the rapid developments pertaining to the unpredictability of the security situation in Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday urged Jordanians remaining in Ukraine to leave the country as soon as possible through land border crossings with neighbouring countries, using any commercial means of transport still available.
The ministry called on citizens to exercise extreme caution and follow the directives of the local authorities, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
To maintain contact with the Jordanian community in Ukraine, the Ministry invited any Jordanian with inquiries to call the operations centre at 00962795497777, or contact op.ctr@fm.gov.jo via email.
At the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, a crisis cell was activated in the ministry's operations centre. A number of Jordanian consuls were dispatched to the Ukrainian border crossings with Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland as well, who at that time provided necessary services facilitating the entry of Jordanians and their families to those countries, addressed their basic needs and eased their return to the Kingdom.
The ministry also developed an e-platform to help Jordanians wishing to leave Ukraine.
A total of 1,500 Jordanians and their families registered via the platform.
The Ministry's representatives at Ukranian border crossings at the time helped some 1,400 citizens and their families with their return to the Kingdom through evacuation flights, operated as per Royal directives, and commercial flights.
A total of 100 Jordanians who registered on the platform expressed their wishes to not leave, especially those possessing Ukrainian citizenship.
