FM speaks with Belgian counterpart ahead of 7th Brussels Conference

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday received a telephone call from his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib, during which they went over bilateral relations between the two kingdoms and the means to develop them in various fields. 

During the phone call, the two ministers stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and enhancing the "firm" partnership between the both countries’ institutions that is based on a "solid" foundation characterised by strong relations between the leaders of the two kingdoms, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

They also affirmed the continued cooperation and coordination within the framework of the partnership between Jordan and the EU.

Safadi and Lahbib also reviewed ongoing preparations for 7th Brussels Conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region”, scheduled to be organised by the EU on Thursday in Brussels, with the aim of enhancing international efforts to support the Syrian people, provide humanitarian relief and assist in the reconstruction of Syria. 

Safadi commended Belgium's stances in support of the Kingdom in facing economic challenges and shouldering the burden of hosting refugees.

For her part, Lahbib expressed her country's appreciation for the Kingdom's key role in efforts to achieve security, stability and permanent peace in the region and hosting refugees, stressing Belgium's continued support to Jordan in bearing the burdens of hosting refugees, meeting refugees' needs and providing decent living for them.
