AMMAN — Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah has received Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, who is on an official visit to the Gulf state.

Safadi conveyed a message from His Majesty King Abdullah offering congratulations over Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah's recovery, wishing him sustained good health and well-being, and the people of Kuwait continued progress and prosperity.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of enhancing Jordanian-Kuwaiti ties in all fields, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, according to a Foreign Ministry statement on Thursday.

Safadi highlighted the deep Jordanian-Kuwaiti ties, hailing the two nations’ ongoing coordination on regional issues.

He also expressed appreciation for Kuwait's supportive stances towards the Kingdom.

Also on Thursday, Safadi met his Kuwaiti counterpart Ahmed Nasser Al Mohammad Al Sabah over advancing mutual ties and the latest regional developments, according to another statement.

The two sides reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause, stressing the necessity of scaling up international efforts to resolve the conflict on the basis of a two-state solution, which ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, lines with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Expressing keenness to maintain a high level of coordination and consultation, Safadi and his counterpart reiterated that the two sides are “working according to a clear roadmap” set to enhance cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, tourism and education for the best interests of the two countries.

They also agreed to prepare for the meetings of the joint Jordanian-Kuwaiti higher committee headed by the two top officials, which took place last year in Amman and will be held this year in Kuwait.

Talks also went over the need for de-escalation in the Arab Gulf region. Both sides stressed that regional interactions should be based on the principles of good neighbourliness and abstaining from interfering in internal affairs.

The two sides also drew attention to the importance of safeguarding Iraq’s security and stability, as well as reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis that will maintain the country’s territorial integrity and unity.

The two officials agreed to continue coordinating stances towards the regional challenges.

During his official visit, Safadi also checked on the Jordanian Embassy in Kuwait, where he met with a number of community members residing in the Gulf state and listened to their remarks. He expressed thanks to the embassy staff for their efforts in serving Jordanian expats and those seeking to visit the Kingdom, according to another ministry statement.

The embassy deals with 600,000 transactions on a daily basis and provides services for some 61,000 Jordanians residing in Kuwait.
