AMMAN — Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva on Tuesday discussed regional developments and bilateral ties, voicing solidarity in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and its repercussions.
During discussions over the phone, Safadi and Zaharieva went over international stances on Israel’s annexation decision. Safadi said the Israeli move poses an "unprecedented threat" to a just peace and violates international law, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Talks also focused on formulating a "clear" international position against the annexation plan, highlighting the importance of resuming “serious” negotiations to resolve the conflict based on the two-state solution, international law and the Arab Peace Initiative, according to the statement.
Emphasising the importance of the EU's efforts towards resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Safadi appreciated Bulgaria's support for the two-state solution.
The two sides expressed keenness to bolster ties and activate cooperation, notably in trade, tourism and education sectors.
